Even though Toews was a little surprised to be recognized in Peru, Adorjan said he was “humble, genuine” and spoke to his group for a few minutes.
“He was just happy to meet us. He was asking more questions about us and our lives than we were about him,” said Adorjan, who has been in Peru for nine weeks studying Spanish as part of his studies at Mundelein Seminary.
Adorjan was even more impressed when the star suggested getting the group’s photograph with the ruins in the background.
“He’s definitely my hockey hero and to have had such an incredible encounter only makes him cooler,” Adorjan said.
